ATM Tips
Here are some typical ATM keypads. The operational keys are in Hebrew and often worn. The functions are not intuitive. The best place to exchange money is at the airport. Shakshuka - Try This!
Be sure to try an Israeli coffee shop breakfast of Shakshuka and salad at an outdoor cafe. It will cost about 50 NIS (about $15). Shakshouka is eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions and it is often spiced with cumin. It is believed to have a Tunisian origin. Shakshouka means "a mixture" in Arabic slang. It was likely first known as chakchouka, a Berber word meaning a vegetable ragout, although according to a cookbook about Jerusalem cuisine, the name is derived from the Hebrew verb leshakshek, "to shake." |
